Somewhere Over The Rainbow!

Local people have had their permitted, socially-distanced walks brightened up in recent days by the wonderfully coloured rainbow pictures displayed in windows across the community. What fun it is for our children to try and spot as many as they can! The pictures send a message of positivity and cheer - they remind us that hope and light follow even the darkest times and that everything will be okay.  They also convey support for all NHS staff and key workers who are working so hard to keep us safe in these difficult times.

Walmsley children have risen to the challenge admirably and our Twitter feed and Tapestry observations are full of wonderful rainbow pictures that are testament to their enthusiasm, creativity and sense of community.  Mrs Hitchen is saving all the artwork that we send her to display in Christ Church Walmsley on Easter Sunday, and she will share a picture of the children's work at that very special time.

We're Going On A Bear Hunt!

And now there is another way in which we can have fun, boost spirits and foster our sense of community.

In Reception class we already know how much fun you can have when going on a Bear Hunt ...!  And now a mass "social-distancing approved" teddy bear hunt is underway around the world after starting in New Zealand.  Inspired by Michael Rosen's much loved book, children are encouraged to display their own teddies (other soft toys are allowed!) in their windows and gardens, and then see how many bears they themselves can spot in the neighbourhood when they are out and about on their daily walks.  Even if you are self-isolating, you can have fun changing your displays and putting different outfits on your teddies.

So let's put our favourite soft toys where all can see them and have lots of fun turning our exercise time into a Bear Hunt!  Who will find the most?  Who can create the best display? Don't forget to tweet us your pictures!
